DC Mary voted against legislation that mandated minimum periods of rest and recuperation for members of the regular and reserve components of the U.S. military serving in Iraq. It established the time between deployments to combat zones to be at least equal to the length of the most recent deployment.
For National Guard and reserve members, the bill called for time between deployments to be at least three times longer than the length of the most recent deployment. It exempted special operations forces units and allowed the president and military service chiefs to waive these requirements in response to unforeseen circumstances.
Mary also said on the House floor:
“Too often, however, we forget the families, the loved ones behind our military men and women- our mothers, our fathers, our children, our siblings, husbands and wives of our troops. Their sacrifice is also worthy of our greatest respect…Of every two soldiers who are deployed, one leaves behind a wife or a husband who will wait for months, and sometimes even years, before they see their spouse again. Nearly 2 million children have fathers or mothers who are in the military, and these children, undoubtedly, feel great pride in having a mother or father serve their country, but they also feel a great burden of growing up with one parent who often is far from home and missing those important times.”
So wait a minute Mary. You are saying that children need their parents and that our troops should be home with their families… but then you vote to keep them in Iraq longer? Sounds to me like you are saying one thing and then voting completely different… but this wouldn’t be the first time.
Mary’s failed logic strikes again. She can’t manage lead in Congress, and now she wants to run Oklahoma?
Sorry Mary, Oklahoma needs good leadership not failed Washington Politics.
